Key resources in Lockerley …

Lockerley provides a number of key resources for the visitor and its villagers.

Garbage and garden waste collection

Household garbage collection in Lockerley takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Which day of the week depends on where you live.  Collection of general household waste (black wheelie bins) and recyclable waste (brown wheelie bins) is on alternate weeks.  Collections which would fall on a bank holiday are usually delayed to the next working day.
Mondays : Lockerley Green and East Dean road.
Tuesdays : Butts Green, The Street.

Households can take out an annual subscription to a garden waste collection service which is organized by Test Valley Borough Council.  The waste - strictly grown waste and no other rubbish such as earth or pots - is left in green bags which are provided as part of the service.  Collection in Lockerley is on alternate Fridays.  Look to see what neighbours are doing!.

Oil Buying Group

There's a benefit to he had if a number of people living around the same post code area order heating oil fuel at the same time.  Essentially the delivery costs are lower than an individual best buy for 1000 litres (500 litres is the minimum deliverable quantity) because a only single return trip from the oil depot is needed.  The note (click here for a PDF copy) sets out some of the thinking behind establishing such a scheme within the Lockerley area.  Addresses within the SO51 0Jx (where x will indicate an area within 1km of Lockerley Green) ought to be able to benefit.  Participation is entirely voluntary and without cost or commitment except that .... if you expect it to work you will need to be prompt in responding to email requests.  Operation is simple  - the co-ordination is centred on emails sent to and from oilbuying @lockerley.org.uk.  There are successful groups working in this area; for example in West Tytherley, Awbridge so the concept is well established.  If you are interested in being part of this contact oilbuying@ lockerley.org.uk.  [Apologies for splitting the email address but it's one way of delaying being caught by a torrent of spam.]
