schoologo01 tnThe school is located at Butts Green, Lockerley. The post code SO51 0JG may be used with www.streetmap.co.uk for directions. It is adjacent to the village hall. We would like to invite you to look around our school to see the work we do with our children and what we could offer your child. Do call and make an appointment to come for a visit.
Following a successful fund raising project in 2000 the school was able to expand and now offers extremely good facilities in very pleasant grounds facing one of Lockerley’s four main greens. The school takes in pupils from the ages of 4 to 11 years. Every child is valued, trained support staff are employed in all of our classes and we offer a range of after schools clubs. There is an active Friends of Lockerley School Association where parents and teachers work together to provide additional resources for children.
You can also visit our web site at lockerley primary school where you may also see some of the project work undertaken in recent year.
Lockerley School was founded in 1870, and being a Church of England School, retains strong links with the village church of St. John’s. Our Vicar, the Rev’d James Pitkin, visits the school once a week. The children take part in special services at Lockerley Church for Harvest, Christmas and Easter celebrations.

The school is divided into four classes:

Skippers, age 4 and 5;
Admirals, age 5 - 7;
Swallowtails, age 7 - 9 and
Emperors, age 9 - 11

Class sizes are small throughout the school and progress is flexible to meet the individual child’s needs. We offer excellent facilities, including a hall, ICT suite, library and additional learning areas. Outside the children enjoy the use of our playing field, climbing equipment, fitness trail, gazebo and play house.
The school is accessible to all. Disabled parking is available and there is wheelchair access throughout. Disabled toilet facilities are also provided in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
The recent Ofsted inspection (December 2011) judged the school as good and quoted one of the many positive parent comments they had received: "A truly lovely school that encourages each and every child to flourish. It provides a warm and happy environment, promotes thoughtfulness between pupils and makes learning good fun." The report stated: "The school gives excellent priority to its care, guidance and support of pupils."
"..it continues to provide a stimulating and purposeful environment in which pupils achieve well in both their personal and academic development."
"..significant numbers of pupils throughout the school working at levels that are above national expectations."
"The curriculum is imaginative and creative and has been organised well to meet the needs and interests of the pupils."
